Why Tony Hawk was the Best Skateboarder Overall

First off, this blog is not saying that Tony Hawk is the best skateboarder simply because of his skill, it's also mentioning how he changed the sport and what he did for the skateboarding community. Tony Hawk is an excellent man and I am proud that he is a big part of skateboarding and its community. Starting with the Birdman's skill, in total Tony won 73 titles over the span of his career. Tony was named the top vert skater from 1984 to 1996 and he also created several moves impacting the entire sport of skateboarding. 

    Furthermore, Tony Hawk has done alot for the community of skateboarding which pushed not only his career but the careers of many others at the same time. Firstly, he created and funded The Skate Park Project, which is a project that helps communities build public skateparks in underserved areas. Over 10 million dollars was funded into The Skatepark Project which all went into the development of over 600 skateparks worldwide. In addition, throughout tony's skating career, he popularized the sport of skateboarding making a name for himself and pushing his career forward along with other skaters because the sport was finally gaining some traction. 

    Also, when people mention skateboarding the most popular skateboarder to come up is Tony Hawk. Even people that aren't interested in skateboarding know his name which shows how popular he was and how big his impact was on the skateboarding community. He also featured in several movies, some about skating some not, but mostly his roles were based around skateboarding. To top it all off, Tony has released over 20 games based off of his skating career and his name, bringing in even more popularity to skateboarding from other interests such as video games.
